Resolution is at 4 bit unable to change and 640 by 480 pixels how can i fix it or is it a hard ware problem?

i Got my computer yesterday and installed the VGA drivers that came with the box. once installed it said i had to reboot the computer and so i did but when it turned back on the screen resolution was at 4 bit unable to change and 640 by 480 pixels how can i fix it or is it a hard ware problem?Resolution is at 4 bit unable to change and 640 by 480 pixels how can i fix it or is it a hard ware problem?
First thing I would do is make sure all your display drivers all installed. Next, I would check my screens resolution settings and see what the maximum resolution setting is that is available for your screen. After that, I would go to my computer's display properties and increase the resolution settings.



If none of these steps work then I would say its a hardware problem.
