How can I change my monitor settings to avoid dead pixels?

The right-hand 1/6 of my computer monitor is completely dead. All that's there is a solid chunk of blue pixels and when I move my mouse over there it disappears behind it. Is there a way I can set my monitor to only display on the 5/6 of my monitor that's working? Here's a drawing to illustrate what my monitor looks like:

The only thing I could see happening is changing alignment of screen, i.e. move display right, strech picture, move right strech, etc... It may work, it may not, never tried it.How can I change my monitor settings to avoid dead pixels?
It seemed like you can't. It is because even you will set a custom resolution your monitor will tend to squeeze the area to match all the screen. Changing your screen resolution will only affect the size of the pixels instead of ignoring a specific part of the monitor.
If your monitor is connected via DVI(wide white connector) this can happen. It once happened to me exactly the same way, only that it wasn't 1/6 of the screen. It was like 2 mm of pink pixels. Try switching to the old analog style connector(smaller blue connector) and see if that changes anything.

If the problem persists then you need to take the display to a service for warranty. The warranty usually covers for anything in excess of 3 dead pixels, witch is barely visible. In your case they will surely replace the unit.
Some LCDs let you move the image around, you would need to use the buttons on the screen itself to see if you can.

You might also be able to adjust where the screen is displayed using your video card drivers.

I think you should just buy a new monitor, they are so cheap nowadays that it makes no sense to keep a screen that broken.

Gmail help- it's too big.?

I've had this happen to my desktop before, and all you have to do to fix it is change resolution or pixels or something similar. However, my cat decided to sit on my laptop while I was out the room, and my gmail tab in Firefox was open. Now everything in gmail, the whole page, is too...big. Does anyone know how to fix this?Gmail help- it's too big.?
If you use Firefox, click Control and minus or Shift and minus.

I use the No Squint plugin so it's Control and Minus, but I think it's Cntl + - without that.

That would make sense if it's only the one page that is too big.

Good luckGmail help- it's too big.?
Try to close browser and reopen it. If problem is there go to tools on the top right of window bar and select the zoom you want it at.
Yes, your cat zoomed into the page, i would hit Ctrl + 0 or go under the view menu, click zoom and hit reset.

You change the width and height in the applet tag in the code for the web page.

Photoshop: is it possible...?

to remove all the pixels of a certain color from a picture or to change all the pixels of a certain color to a different color? if so how?

e.g. lets say you have a high contrast picture of a girl's silhuoette. the only colors in it are red and black. can you make all the red ones green or something?Photoshop: is it possible...?
yes just select the area in question and use hue saturation to change the colour

Anything is possible in Photoshop - you just need to watch a youtube demo to see how to do it.Photoshop: is it possible...?
You can add a gradient map to change the colours.
you can do that via color levels and lowering increasing the color. although im no pro so i dunno if thats possible, but hey its photoshop, it can do the impossible!!

we just have to find out a way to do it.

a gradient overlay would also work but its harder and it changes the ALL the colors globally. try getting into channels.
Select By Color Range and use the Fuzziness Slider. Use a layer adjustment to change the color.

How do I change a tiny image size (not pixel size) of a scanned picture so it up/downloads as a larger image?

I scanned some pictures and tried to upload them to a web site - the image is so tiny you can barely see it - The pixel size is large enough (1700 x 2200) and I can change the image size for other applications (i.e. email) but I can't seem to change it for for up-loading to a website. Any help would be appreciated. thanksHow do I change a tiny image size (not pixel size) of a scanned picture so it up/downloads as a larger image?
Perhaps the image is being resized by the page that is hosting it. Review the underlying HTML of your page. The size-parameters for the image, if they are different from the image itself, will be noted there. You can also try a ';save as'; operation on your hosted image, and compare the image-size of the original with the image you download. How do I change a tiny image size (not pixel size) of a scanned picture so it up/downloads as a larger image?

Go to your desktop and right click. Click on properties. After you've done that, go to the settings tab. Set your screen resolution and click ';Okay';. That should do it.

Is this a stuck pixel or a dead pixel on my lcd tv?

i have a philips 42 inch 1080p lcd tv.

but i see a single green pixel that never changes....you can see the green pixel better when the rest of the screen is black. is this a dead pixel or a stuck pixel? i know that dead pixels are impossible to fix but how can you fix stuck pixels? and this is not a computer monitor....it's a tv. thanks a lot!Is this a stuck pixel or a dead pixel on my lcd tv?
Yup, it's stuck.

Although some people claim success with very gently rubbing the stuck pixel for the most part they stay stuck.

Each manufacturer has a quality control limit of the maximum number of allowable stuck pixels. As long as it is under than number the warranty will not cover replacement. Is this a stuck pixel or a dead pixel on my lcd tv?
It is a stuck pixel. You can try to fix it like this.

1. Turn off your monitor.

2. Get yourself a damp cloth, so that you don't scratch your screen.

3. Apply pressure to the area where the stuck pixel is. Do not put pressure anywhere else, as this may make more stuck pixels.

4. While applying pressure, turn on the screen.

5. Remove pressure and the stuck pixel could be repaired.

6. Repeat if unsuccessful.

You could ask someone on this YA site to assist you with that task (not me, sorry), if you don't mind everyone in the world having access to it OR you could find a photo editing program.

It's extremely easy to do in PhotoShop.

    Do you have PhotoShop?

    How do I change a digital picture from 778kb (1224 x 1632) pixels to 150kb (640x840) pixels?

There are several options. If you have Photoshop or any photo editing software (usually included with your camera), you can choose the 'resize' option.

Another basic option would be to use Paint (it's in your computer under accessories) and use the Image menu choice. From there, choose Stretch/Skew and enter 20%. It will reduce your image to the approximate size you need. You may have to tweek the % to find the exact kb size you need. While there, you can also crop the image, if needed.

Here's a link to several free resizing programs, if you need one.

    http://www.download.com/3120-20_4-0-1-0.

In any case, do a SAVE AS for your converted file giving it a new name, so your original file will remain intact for future use.

    Hope this helps.How do I change a digital picture from 778kb (1224 x 1632) pixels to 150kb (640x840) pixels?
That actual size of the file is dependent on two things. The size of the image measured in pixels, cm or inches and the DPI assigned to it first by the camera and then later by you.

The procedure in Photoshop to resize the image for use as email or post on a website is to first set the DPI to 72 and then adjust the image size (in your case 640x840) and save the new image under a new file name so you don't destroy your original. How do I change a digital picture from 778kb (1224 x 1632) pixels to 150kb (640x840) pixels?
It would help you get a better answer if you click on the pencil icon under your question and ';Add details'; to tell us what software you are using so that someone can give you specific directions.

It would be worthwhile to go to the montor manfacturer's website and download the drivers for your monitor so that it can use that resolution. If your computer has a video card instead of onboard video, then you should also download the drivers for the video card. By doing both of these things you should be ok and be able to set your monitor to the resolution you want.

How do I re-size the amount of pixels my MONITOR displays?

I have an LCD monitor that can show up to 1280x1024 pixels.

    So far so good.

Now, I want to set my resolution down to 1280x768, that means High Definition resolution, to make things nice...

My screen stretches it all the way to fill up the screen.

But what if I DON'T want that?

I want my screen to ONLY show 1280x768 pixels, and yes, to leave the upper and lower parts blank.

I once had a CRT monitor which allowed me to scale the the part in my monitor that is viewed, but my LCD monitor doesn't have anything like that.

Does anyone here know of any way to change the amount of pixels my MONITOR shows?

Is there any way I can do that?

My screen is an LG FLATRON L1710S.How do I re-size the amount of pixels my MONITOR displays?
Usually you are able to do this in your disply driver advanced options menu. It depends on what video card you have as to where this is located. I know that nVidia drivers will have this as ';LCD Monitor Scaling Option'; in the nVidia control panel in the latest version. Usually this is listed under the Monitor Option group on the left side (you may need to change the view to advanced settings).

Try googling your video card and ';lcd scaling options';.How do I re-size the amount of pixels my MONITOR displays?
Changing the pixel dimension on the computer properties (right click on blank area of desktop, select properties, hit settings tab) will not leave any part of the screen blank.

Why would you ever want to do that???

However the screen dimensions adjustment is accessible only from the monitor screen buttons.

You will have to play with the buttons on the monitor screen.

However doing this will leave your display squished!

    How to resize the piture?

i have a picture (600 x 400 jpg) i want to resize it ( 1000 x 2000 pixel ) to change my blog 's theme. How to do it?How to resize the piture?
Well it all depends. it will be hard to make it bigger without it being blurry.

When you try to re-size a pic of a smaller resolution to a higher resolution, your using the same amount of pixels for a larger area.

    Resulting in a blurry picture.

you need to find or take a picture in higher resolution for in to be bigger and look better.

    sizing down is easy.

Just use a picture software And ether re-size or crop. How to resize the piture?
The most simple method would be to define the image dimensions in your code. However, this method would result in a distorted or grainy looking picture.

When you are trying to go bigger, you really should start with a bigger size photo - either from a scan or a digital picture. From there you can size it down however you want. If you are using it on a web site, your best bet would be to size it to the exact dimensions at 72dpi. If you do it at a higher resolution, then you have to define the display size in your HTML code or the picture will wind up being a different size than you intended. For example, a 400x600 image at 150dpi will be twice as big as a picture that is 400x600 at 72dpi.
Personally, I recommend Adobe Photoshop for your image enhancing needs, but this seems to be a simple matter. That and I doubt you really want to spend a lot of money on 3rd party software.

If you're on a Windows XP machine (otherwise do a handy search), go to start--%26gt;programs --%26gt;accessories--%26gt;MS Paint--%26gt; open your file, and follow these instructions:

To change the size of your picture

On the Image menu, click Attributes.

Under Units, click the unit of measurement you want to use for the width and height.

Type the measurements in Width and Height.

    Notes

You can also resize your picture by dragging the image resize handles, located at the lower-right corner and along the bottom and right sides of your picture. (You might need to maximize the window to see the square resize handles.)

Using CSS to position with percents.?

Hey, how would I use CSS to position WITH percents. Because using pixels WILL change the view of the page, when changing resolution. If i have the following for text on the right:

    p.pos_abs

    {

    position:absolute;

    right: 5px;

    left:55%;

    top:175px;

    }

    margin-left:55%;

    margin-top:175px;

I have a 3.2 mega pixels digital camera and i can change size on my camera to

    2048x1536

    1600x1200

    1280x960

640x480 my question is what do i set it on to get 400 pixels wide in 4x3 aspect ratio with landscape format??I need to take a photo at least 400 pixels wide in 4x3 aspect ratio how do i do that with my digital camera?
The closest setting to what you need is the 640x480 setting, however it is still too large (width 640 vs. your need of 400).

I would suggest taking the photo at the largest size possible (2048x1536) then re-sizing the image in some kind of image editing program. Photoshop is the most well-known image editor out there, but you can also download GIMP:

    http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/

What you'll need to do is go to Image%26gt;size and then set your width to 400 pixels, and you want to maintain the aspect ratio.

Then you need to see if the height is 300 pixels (it's probably not - it's probably 267. If this is the case, then undo your re-size, and this time do it again but by setting the height to 300 pixels. So your width will be 450.

Now, you'll need to crop the image to have a width of 400 pixels. Once you've done that, save the image as ';some_name.jpg'; and you're done.I need to take a photo at least 400 pixels wide in 4x3 aspect ratio how do i do that with my digital camera?
All those pixel dimension pairs are 4x3 aspect ratio, so all those settings meet that requirement.

Your first statement says ';at least 400 pixels wide';. All those settings are more than 400 pixels wide, so that requirement is met too!

If you meant that you have to end up at exactly 400 pixels wide, you will have to use photo editing software. Find the Resize function and do a Resize with Resampling to set the width at 400 pixels.

Theoretically, you could do it in-camera too. Take a pic at 640x480. Bring up the pic in Review mode and zoom up to 1.6x. That is like dividing by 1.6, so you would be at 400x300. Now save the new cropped pic.

(However, my camera went ahead and resampled and saved it back at 640x480! So it must depend on the camera...)

Dpi or Ppi is different from image size (in pixels). Pixels is image size, Dpi is image resolution. Go to ';Image'; tab, then ';Image size'; and change Dpi settings from there (look for Dpi not pixels).

I need to see that if a photography picture from target will fade in the sunlight for 4 hours. I know that visible fading may not occur, but few pixels may be changed otherwise. I am using a photoshop to detect the number of pixels of color that changed. So, my question is that is it possible for a picture from Target to have faded very very little (unnoticeably) in the sun for 4 hours? thanks :]How long does sun fade a photographic picture that I got developed from a local Target store?
I'm not a photographer but i'd say it definitely could be effected in 4 hours...How long does sun fade a photographic picture that I got developed from a local Target store?
Not sure what we are talking about: do you WANT to see fading for an experiment? If so, lay it flat out doors: window glass blocks some UV which will decrease fading. You could cover one side of the picture with black paper to compare the differences. Remember: in the northern hemisphere you'll see far less fading this time of year than you would at mid-summer.

How can I prevent color discoloration when I change an image from .bmp to .jpg?

When I save an image into a .jpg image the image messes up a little. The color sometimes changes or looks smeared and pixels are more visible. How can I stop this? And please don't say ';don't change it'; or ';keep it in .bmp.'; Is there something I can change on my computer so the images will display better in .jpg? How can I prevent color discoloration when I change an image from .bmp to .jpg?
On most software programs where you can convert an image to JPEG format, you can adjust the quality of the final image. The catch is that when you choose a higher quality, the file will be larger. As you lower the quality, the file size will shrink.

Choose the highest JPEG image quality to preserve color and to avoid that stippling effect.

Of course, you should also assure that you start off with a good, high-quality BMP at the beginning. How can I prevent color discoloration when I change an image from .bmp to .jpg?
When you go to save it in JPG formant there should be a option

that says ';quality'; it should be around 75%

if you set it too low it will cause the effects you describe.

How can i change my laptops' resolution to 1366 x 768 pixels ?

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 with a max. resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and a Sharp Aquos 32'; LCD HDTV with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. I tried to use my TV as a display but the picture is slightly blurred. How can i change my laptops' resolution to match up with my TV ?How can i change my laptops' resolution to 1366 x 768 pixels ?
If the maximum your video card supports is 1280 x 800 you won't be able to set the resolution to 1366x768 without custom firmware for your video card. I wouldn't recommend doing this unless you are very experienced with PC's, but if you want a go anyways here's some basic instructions.

First check Dell's website for updated firmware, they might have a version that does what you want, if not then proceed on.

Figure out what video card your laptop has. (This can be done by clicking start -%26gt; run -%26gt; type dxdiag and press enter, next click on the display tab it should show you the manufacturer name and model for your video card).

Run a search on google for your specific make and model of video card (sometimes it helps to through in your laptop model on the search too), followed by the words ';firmware'; and possibly even ';custom';.

Browse around until you find one that works the way you want. Be very careful loading different firmware, as it may have negative effects on your laptop. How can i change my laptops' resolution to 1366 x 768 pixels ?
Right click on your desktop, click properties, settings- move the slider, to which size that you want..good luck..

Well, it sounds like you don't have drivers for your video card now.

You can go to the manufacturers website and get them there.

How to change the size of pixel in VC++ programming?

You can only do that by changing the monitor resolution through the display driver. I don't think you can do that in Windows (you can if you take control of the display adapter using OpenGL or DirectX, where you have to explicitly specify resolution, of course when you release control it returns to the previous resolution). I don't think users of your program would appreciate you changing their desktop resolution on the fly!How to change the size of pixel in VC++ programming?

  • How do I alter the pixels?

I want to print pictures. If I save something from the web, like a ';.bmp'; with pixel dimensions of 280x220 , then I try to print the image to like a 4x6 or 5x7 photo, it looks so bad and distorted. Is there a way to alter the pixels so the enlarged printed pic looks as great as the one on the computer that is only like a 1x 2 based on the pixels. Also how to changed pic formats like a bmp to jpg?How do I alter the pixels?
Sorry, once a picture is taken with certain resolution, then it cannot be changed. Picture of size 280x220 is only for viewing on computer screen. You can print it, but it would be so small. A good measurement for photo quality is DPI (dot-per-inch)--the higher the number the better it would print. For example, if your printer can print 150 dpi, then the 280x220 picture will be printed as about 2x1. You can use software like Adobe Photoshop or any free one to convert from one format to the others. How do I alter the pixels?
If your getting the small pictures off the net, the truth is that you won't make it better by enlarging it. It will look like crap no matter what you do. The internet uses very low resolution in order for you to view it on the net easily.
It aint gonna happen! No software is capable of guessing what the missing info would look like! Dont waste your time trying! If someone were to find a way to do this, they would be filthy rich!
280x220 is really too small. Remember, you 'scale' or enlarge these pixels to fill up the photo. So what is a little 1x1 pixel block will be a 2x2 pixel block at 2x magnification, a 8x8 pixel block at 8x magnification, and so on.

Some software can smooth the image a little but never so that it will look really good. Download a higher resolution picture if you can find it.
Download Irfanview, this will let you play with pictures, you can reduce the picture quality and enlarge it but it wont look any better as the picture is already low quality.

As for changing a .bmp to a .jpg it is very simple all you do is open it with irfanview then go to save as and type the file name and then drop the box to get the different file extensions and click the one you want to change it to and save.

How to permanently adjust an annoying screen resolution?

My computer works perfectly fine. Every time I use my computer when I log onto my account I have to adjust the screen resolution because its always on 800 by 600 pixels. I constantly change it in Display Properties every single time but it always goes back to 800 by 600 whenever I turn it off and use it again. What can I do to prevent this from happening? How to permanently adjust an annoying screen resolution?
Try changing it in the display driver's control panel instead of the Windows one.

If that fails, try reinstalling the drivers.

The other thing that might go wrong is Windows has decided that's all your monitor can display and is resetting to that. Have a look in control panel and see if the monitor is showing correctly.

My pictures are suddenly very large in size (bytes) on my computer and I don't know why?

I have been taking pictures with a regular Canon Elf 5 megapixel camera and sending out the pictures to friends/family throught the internet by email. Suddenly they came back at me as ';undeliverable'; because the size of the attachents were too big. I discovered that before my picutes were around 160kb. and so sending 10 pictures were no problem. Suddenly I noticed that the pictures in my ';MY DOCUMENT'; folder were now 1.3MB or 10 times the size in memory. I don't think I changed the pixel size on my camera to superfine ( I don't think I know how even). Is it possible that something on my computer somehow told it to be 1.3MB in size by default? Somekind of program? I downloaded Adobe Photoshop around the time it started doing it but I can't see why that would have an effect. My pictures are suddenly very large in size (bytes) on my computer and I don't know why?
there is a setting on your camera that you can change the size of the pictures.. you probably changed it by mistake,, Mine when I change the setting to smallest pictures I can take 800 pictures, when I change it to the max. I can only take 70 or so...My pictures are suddenly very large in size (bytes) on my computer and I don't know why?
Your photo-shop program should give you the means to make them smaller. and make sure before you send them out they are converted to JPegs. Do a little reading about you Photo shop program. It sounds like that you are sending out Bitmaps instead of JPegs.

If you can't fix the problem with the program you have, go to Google and download their free Picasa2 program and use that one to reduce and send your photos via e-mail.

You need to increase the compression ratio, a jpeg image is a compressed image on there are utilities and programmes (adobe photoshop for one) that allow you to select the compression ratio. The effect of this is that a picture of the same pixel size will get a smaller file size. The pay off is the clarity of the image

How do i reduce a gif file by half without too much loss of quality?

I need to create an animated GIF file but its still to big for the application its intended for, ive resized the individual frames, resized the original JPEGs and re-converted them.... all to no avail.

Even changed the pixels aspect and tried 123 GIF/JPEG Optimizer for compressing them, but it just wrecks the quality.

I dont want the finished file to be so small that it cant be properly seen....

Basically, the one i have created is 56kb and the required size is 24kb.

If there is a good application to assist with this or a good 'how to' article available, thats the kind of thing.....

Thanks in advanceHow do i reduce a gif file by half without too much loss of quality?

thats a difficult question , i find it interesting - you A , probably find it annoying..... i can see why you have this problen . This page link with ,it seems all the things you have tried seem to , say , it depends apon the image quality you are willing to lose.. it talks of bitmap size , along with evrything lse you have done, . I can only personally think that ,if there were half the frames , or somesuch - you may `obviously still lose quality when converted / compressed but (which is the better of the two evils?. i would possibly edit and try to reduce the amount of frames in the file , before compressing. you may gain a better size of file, but as to what he quality would be like ...? it may still be the same.

All i can say ,is good luck . read from this page for clues . maybe change the amount of frames.

People telling you to change the DPI or megapixels of the camera simply do not know what they are talking about. What you DO need to do is set your camera to shoot at it's HIGHEST QUALITY setting. Your owners will tell you how. It is very simple to do. There will be selections on a menu screen that let you pick quality values. ALWAYS shoot at the very best, highest quality setting and you will be ok.

15 pin male to male vga cable?

Hi, i bought a 15 pin male to male vga cable the other day so i could watch online tv through my lcd tv trouble is i dont know how it is done because i have tries just plugging it in and also tried rebooting after each time i changed the pixels but my tv just says mode not supported i initially thought vga was just for analogue tv (mine is digital) and that i would need s-video but somebody said this is not the case. I have also consulted the manual and the the samsung website but get no joy from that.

my tv is a Samsung LE23R7 (according to the cover of the manual)15 pin male to male vga cable?
I have seen this problem and question in various forms many times, and have never seen the correct answer given. So here is the answer. Please spread it around, since many people seem to have the problem:

VGA 15 pin cables often have only 14 active pins. Pin 9 is missing. (This missing pin is on the middle row of pins, one pin from the end.) This missing pin is a problem for flat screen TVs.

Pin 9 is required by most, if not all, plasma and lcd TV's to supply back to the computer graphics card information about the available resolution of the monitor. Pin 9 carries a 5 volt signal to the DDC (display data channel). New computer monitors (LCD or CRT) do not seem to need this pin, and work fine without it -- as a result the majority of VGA cables labeled as ';15 pin'; really only have 14 pins, and this is never explained or noted in the packaging or product specifications! The only way to tell if a ';15 pin'; VGA cable actually has all 15 pins is to look at the connector and count the pins. If the middle row has only 4 pins, then the critical pin 9 is missing.

From the posts I have seen -- and from my own experience with my 50'; Pioneer PDP-5070HD plasma TV -- nearly all flat screen TV's DO NEED this pin to return information about the native screen resolution.

I have seen dozens of posts by people trying to set up their HTPC's to work with their big screen plasma, but not being able to set the resolution (usually 1360 x 768) on their video adapter card. Some people on the forums argue they had ';no problem'; while others cannot make it work. People blame the video card or video card drivers. No one seems to figure out the problem is a missing pin on the supposedly standard ';15 pin VGA cable'; many people are using!

I had the same problem with my ATI 9800 Pro graphics card using a 15 pin VGA cable with only 14 pins. When I changed to a full and true 15 pin cable, the ATI 9800 immediately sensed the native resolution of the plasma TV.

So the difference between a 15 pin and a 14 pin VGA cable is not ';just one pin';, as one sarcastic idiot answered to a previous post of this question. The absence of the pin 9 signal (5 volt to the DDC) means your your very expensive plasma or LCD TV cannot notify your computer graphics card about its supported resolution. Get a VGA cable with all 15 pins, and your problem may be resolved. But you will have to search to find one by visually examining the plug. Remember, all the VGA cables are labeled and sold as ';15 pin VGA cable'; even if they actually have only 14 pins. Check it out.

(BTW, there is a reason to leave the 5 volt signal off the cable when it is not needed. However, for LCD and Plasma TV's, it is needed.)15 pin male to male vga cable?
    Yes

Your TV supports PC input. You must have set your PC output resolution to a resolution not supported by your TV.

Try any of those: 800x600, 1024x768 or 1360x768

Make sure that on your PC Display Setup options you UNCHECK the option to force resolutions not supported by the Display. Then the PC should read the TV's supported options and allow you to set the display only on the supported formats.
I did the same thing with my samsung tv so that I could turn my tv into a 32 in monitor, just plug it to the computer and the tv, but make sure you have the tv on the right source.

The only way you are going to even consider enlarging an image with minimal loss to details is with a program called Genuine Fractals ( http://www.imaging-resource.com/SOFT/GF/ ) %26lt;--- for a review on this.

Anything else is using color interpolation which is interpreting a relationship to the associated surrounding colors and assuming the best match... image quality goes to the toilet this way.How do I change a photo to be more than 300,000 pixels?
    From Microsoft's site:

For example, a 640 x 480 picture can be loaded by AutoCollage, but a 1000 x 400 picture cannot because 400 is smaller than 480.

You can do a simple resize in Microsoft Paint.. free

    it's on your computer already
Make sure width times height also = 300,000
Sometimes..... if you enlarge in small steps, the image doesn't get as ruined. ... sometimes..

A lot also depends on how small your image is to begin with. If your trying to enlarge captured thumbnails, say something around 80 pixels per side, forget it. It's just too small and there are not enuf pixels for the re-sizing to work...

In fact, if the image is 2 or 300 pixels per a side it most likely is too small to enlarge, as you are finding out here.

Try small steps at a time, it may work better than one big step..

    No.

You can't add pixels that aren't there.

The reason they are small is because of the number of pixels in the picture are so small. There are programs (like s-spline) that can help some, but overall, you just can't make a small, low resolution picture, a lot bigger with any decent quality.QUESTiON ABOUT PICTURES?
No I don't think that's an option. You have to change it before you take the picture.

I saved pictures from the internet and they are very small, i want to make one my background but since its so small, when i try to stretch it it looks bad, and i know i can tile it but i want to be able to stretch it with it looking good. Will changing the pixel density help this and how can i do it? I have Photoshop, if you can using that program. THank you.QUESTiON ABOUT PICTURES?
increasing pixel density is hard and if done the picture wont look simular to the main one. as the emti holes are filled in with the best guess of the computer software.QUESTiON ABOUT PICTURES?
    idk paint
The above poster, sharvani, is correct. The usual pixel density for internet postings is usually 72 dpi. This is to save time in the upload and download times. If you try to increase the size of the picture, all you really do is increase the size of the pixels. This is why you get the jaggy pictures when you try. You have to start with a higher resolution picture.

    Good luck

How do you change the size of a picture on Photoshop CS4?

I just downloaded Photoshop CS4 but I can't figure out how to change the size of something! It seems like it should be really simple but I can't figure it out. I dont want to change the resolution or the pixels or anything just the actual size. does anyone know how?How do you change the size of a picture on Photoshop CS4?
your question is kind of hard to understand. if you don't want to change the resolution, then you must want to just zoom in? if that's the case, use the zoom tool (Z). my second guess is that you're trying to change the canvas size. you can do that by going to Image%26gt; Canvas Size. and just in case, you can go to Image%26gt; Image Size and see if that's what your looking for.How do you change the size of a picture on Photoshop CS4?
Okay, you have to understand that the pixel dimensions and resolution are all related to the image size. If you upscale the picture, you will be adding pixels OR decreasing the resolution. In general, when you try to do this, you will be decreasing the quality of your image, because you will be decreasing the resolution. This may not be a problem if you want to display an image on your screen, but it becomes a major problem when you want to print something.

Think of it this way: you have a box that's 1 inch by 1 inch. Inside this box are 4 rows of 4 dots each. Those dots are all tied to each other and the edges of the box. You CAN make that box bigger, but when you do, you will be spreading all the dots apart more: your RESOLUTION has gone down. The bigger you make the box, the farther apart the dots get and the more white space you have.

You can do a certain amount of upscaling AND changing the number of pixels in the image, but the problem is that Photoshop has to guess at what's missing. It has to add more pixels if you want to keep the same resolution and make the picture bigger. Since those pixels are not already there in the image, Photoshop has to calculate what they might be. Sometimes this works and more often it doesn't: you still end up with decreased quality in your image.

If you just upscale, those pixels will just spread out (not quite the way I described with the box and dot example鈥攜ou won't be getting white space); they get bigger to fill up the larger space, and so the quality goes down. You will start to see what's called pixelation.

Anyway, if you want to e-mail me, I'll see if I can help figure out a way to do what you want. Check my profile.
i wish i was as good with computers like you so i could use photoshop :( oh well at least you seem to have spent your money well. the best solution is to ctrl a and then drage edge of emage.

You will want to crop your image instead of resizing it. Since 320x320 and 240x320 have different aspect ratio, resizing will cause distortion. In your case, the distortion will be so great that you won't be able to use it for your visa lottery application.

You will need to find an image editing software capable of cropping. Find the mask tool and enter your specific dimensions, or if by aspect ratio, enter 3:4. Then create the mask over your picture and use the crop tool to crop it.

Since you have very few pixels to work with, it is probably best if you ask a friend who is proficient in image editing to help you.How do i resize my photo from 320x320 pixels to 240x 320 pixels?

The pics on the internet are purposely kept small to make them load faster. There are not enough pixels there to stretch it big enough for wallpaper.

You can try Photoshop Image Size, but if you get it big enough, it will be blurry. There is no way to invent enough pixels when you start out too small.

Look for a wallpaper library on the Net. These are big enough images (have enough pixels) to do what you want.

You can use Photoshop to calculate in-between pixels, but this usually doesn't achieve the desired result - you'll just end up with a very soft image instead of a pixelated image.

If you want to try it, here are the steps:

    * Open the picture in Photoshop,

    * Go to the menu option Image --%26gt; Image size.

    * Set the image width to whatever your screen resolution is. When you keep the aspect ratio locked, you'll see that Photoshop automatically re-calculates the height.

    * In that same window, select Resample with Bicubic Smoother.

    * Click on OK

    * Select menu option Save As. Select jpg, and give the picture a new name.

I accidentally ';compressed'; a file, how do I undo it? Mac computer.?

I have a mac and I was trying to ';get info'; when I right-clicked but I accidentally chose ';compress file'; and it made all my picture files really small. It actually changed the pixel size of them as well as reduced other files in the folder. Can I reverse this?I accidentally ';compressed'; a file, how do I undo it? Mac computer.?
When you choose ';compress file'; from the contextual menu, it creates a .zip file in the same folder. It does not effect the original file, but rather copies and compresses it into another file. In this case, the original files would have remained untouched, and you should be okay.

Also make sure you are looking at the right thing, instead of say, a thumbnail. The easiest way of doing that is by showing the path bar (under ';View'; in menu bar) in Finder.

With that being said, maybe you didn't choose that particular feature, but maybe an automator workflow. In that case, those files have been effected, and there's nothing you can do.

How could one apply powerpoint effects on a website?

Do you know how a powerpoint presentation allows you to go to the next slide with special effects like it changes to the next slide by sliding the previous slide to one side or changing it to the other slide by changing the little pixels. Well, I was wondering if there was a code in html so it can be applied to websites. If there is can you please show me the code. Thanks. How could one apply powerpoint effects on a website?
    It's called ';Page Transition';

Choose the transition you want and then copy the code for your page. It only works on IE though.

http://www.htmlbasix.com/pagetransitionsHow could one apply powerpoint effects on a website?
Lost, if your audience only uses MSIE, you can use filters in meta-tags to handle page transitions - do a web search on RevealTrans() - this method takes two arguments: transition - this is the effect (dissolve, wipe, checkerboard, etc.), and duration - a floating integer value that defines the length of the transition in milliseconds.

If cross-browser compliance is important to you, you could use flash movies for your content and transitions and then use Drew McLellan's ';Flash Satay'; technique to embed it to your website. Drew's article is on A List Apart's website and linked for you here: http://www.alistapart.com/articles/flash

If it's Internet Explorer 7, try holding CTRL and pull the scroll wheel on your mouse back. It might just be zoomed in.
i had that same problem, go to the control panel, i remeber doing something there but i forgot.
I assume you are using Internet Explorer 7. In that case, look at the lower right-hand corner of the window. Adjust the zoom level to 100%.
If you Ctrl + mouse roll you can change the size, is like zoom in zoom out.
To make the text smaller, hold down the Ctrl button and then press - (It's the subtraction or dash sign). The - button should be right by the button that has the + sign:

    Hold down Ctrl, then -

NEED HELP WITH MY LAPTOP!!!!!!!!!!! IBM T23 !!!!!!!!!!! 10 points to best answer?

Hi, I just recently bought a laptop off ebay. Its in good working condition and is pretty nice. I am,... for the most part very good with most computers and know how to fix them. Anyway i bought this IBM Laptop the model is T23 .... so its a IBM laptop T23. I have right now 256mb of ram witch is not that good. And a 80gig HD. with Pentium III 800MHz processor I want to play a game on it some of u might know it. Delta Force Black Hawk Down. The system requirements to play are .... .

    Requirements: Windows 2000/XP,Processor: PIII 800 MHz,DirectX 8.1 .... 256 MB RAM,Free hard drive space: 750 MB,Direct 3D 32MB DirectX 8.1,DirectX-compliant Sound Card,

First off what are the direct 8.1 things.

I have all of this a PIII 256 Ram and i just upgraded it to 512mb I have plenty more than 750mb free space. But what i want to know is ...... if it is my video card. delta force black hawk down... plays with any ... /D3D card with 32megs or ram on the card. I dont know what my video card is right now because i got grounded from my laptop now and my dad wont let me look at it or touch for like a month. Any way i can play the game on our Emachines pc and it works fine... but b4 i got grounded i tried to play and when the game was about to turn on it said....

The resolution test has failed, check to see if all your driver and video cards are up to date.... Something like that. Could it be my video card is not goo enough. I mean Delta Force black hawk down does not take an amazing computer to play as you can see. I just need to know why its not working. I mean I HAVE WINDOWS XP

PS:I ......... could this be a problem before i tried to play. I went to display setting ... u know were u can change the pixels and things. And I could choose my graphics card thing. It was on the first choice then i moved it to the second choice, Then tried to play. I never got to cange it back... could that be a problem????????????????

And if it is my video card could you tell me a good site or were i could get a new and better one for my IBM laptop Model T23...

Thanks for the help guys. much appreciated.NEED HELP WITH MY LAPTOP!!!!!!!!!!! IBM T23 !!!!!!!!!!! 10 points to best answer?
First off, it might be good to know what Operating System you are using. Is it Windows 2000, XP, Vista, Windows 7? Anyway, it sounds most likely like a video card, and also note that the sound requirements need to be able to work with Direct X. Direct X is mostly video related, but it is sort of like the basic little OS that your video and sound uses. Direct 3D is not quite the same thing. First of all I can tell you not to mess with DXdiag utility. You don't know enough about it to get desirable results after messing with it. I would check the video resolution, maybe set it to 800x600 or even 640x480 to see if it will launch the game. Otherwise, your hardware is probably not sufficient and that would most likely be the video card. The unfortunate kicker is that you can't really upgrade the video in a laptop. It's more or less running its best video from the manufacturer. Anyway, to change resolution, right click desktop, choose properties, settings tab, and move the slider to adjust.NEED HELP WITH MY LAPTOP!!!!!!!!!!! IBM T23 !!!!!!!!!!! 10 points to best answer?

How can I get a 6x6in photo on an 8x10 sheet so I can print it at a professional lab w/ out a custom size?

I have a frame that I want to put the photo in. I already re-sized it so that it has a a 1:1 ratio (i.e. it's square) in IrfanView. I want to print it at a professional lab, but they only print in custom sizes. So, I'd like to have a 6x6in photo print with enough white border around so that it is an 8x10 (2 inches on one side and 4 on the other). What programs can do this? I have GIMP, Irfanview, Photoscape. do I need to change the pixels, the DPI? It hasn't been working for me and any help is appreciated!!!!!How can I get a 6x6in photo on an 8x10 sheet so I can print it at a professional lab w/ out a custom size?
In GIMP just go to File - New and enter in a new canvas size, in your case 8 x 10. Be sure the resolution matches your 6 x 6 photo. Then just drag and drop your 6 x 6 into the 8 x 10 canvas and have it printed as such.

steveHow can I get a 6x6in photo on an 8x10 sheet so I can print it at a professional lab w/ out a custom size?
Well you can fool them and have the whole 8x10 print made with white borders. That is place the 6x6 inch image on a 8x10 inch canvas in your photo program. The print will then be 6x6 with a one inch and two inch with borders on it.

Artists do this all the time.

The DPI should always be at least 240, but better 300 for photographic prints. Always use the highest resolution the image file can support.... this starts with setting your camera to its highest resolution when shooting any subject.
    I agree with fhotoace.

Can a JPG image that is shades of gray be converted to shades of blue?

I scanned my signature years ago. It is a JPG image that displays as black but when looked at in an editor it is shades of gray. Is there any way to convert it to blue. The image would then have to be shades of blue. Since there are probably 10 different shades a normal edit by changing the pixels one at a time is impractical. Can a program like GIMP change it and how? Please don't say rescan it with blue ink. I no longer have a scanner. Can a JPG image that is shades of gray be converted to shades of blue?
I'm not entirely sure how you would go about this in GIMP, though it's probably possible.

Here's one quick and easy way, of many ways, in photoshop, if you happen to have access to that... there may be a similiar process that will work on GIMP(?).

%26gt; Add an adjustment layer (Solid Color)

What should I do with or how should I have it?

Its a brand new term and I'd like to make changes to my hair. I don't want to cut too much off the length, at the very most, bout 2 inch (about 5cm). I don't want it dyed either, I can't be doing with the change of pixels again, I had my hair several colours, but suit brown the most!

I have a fringe but it's like half side and half full type of fringe! I need it cut, but not sure what to get!

I'm 16 but don't look my age, any tips to make me look 16, I do not suit short hair!

I don't really want it very long either.

I know that leaves hardly no other option, but any ideas?

I don't want anything that looks extreme or odd, or out there, but then again, I don't just want dull hair do with my hair tied back. I need something where it will look ok up %26amp; down.

    MANY Questions about HDTV's...?

Okay, those of you who have them, it will be definitely worth checking this out. 10 Points probably isn't what this ';question'; is worth.

    1) I hear all this stuff about 1080p, 480i, and other stuff like that. What exactly is this, and if I have the maximum can I go down to the minimum? I ask this because the Wii goes up to like 400-some P, and the PS3 can hit 1080i or something like that, so if I get something for PS3 Quality, will the Wii go to it's best quality, which is far worse than PS3's?

    2) What are the input methods of a basic HDTV? I mean, like what kind of cables are there? And will the old red-yellow-white audio/visual cables for my Nintendo 64 still work? Obviously it won't be in HD, but it would be nice to be compatible.

    3) What's the difference between an HDMI port (Male and Female) and Component Cables?

    4) How low in price do they usually go?

    5) All videos are are sequential pictures. Pictures are combinations of pixels. If regular TV is just pixels, can't it just change the Pixel Color to make it ';HD';? It doesn't make sense to me.

There ya go, about 2 Points a question :PMANY Questions about HDTV's...?
1 The 1080 p, 480 i stuff is about resolution. The higher the number the more lines of resolution the TV will have and thus have a better picture.

Honestly you probably wont be able to tell the difference between 720i, and 1080 p. I have a 1080 i and the picture is amazing.

2 %26amp; 3) It really depends on the TV but my Sony has 8 different inputs. Two HD, Two component and then some S video and Video inputs. The HD inputs are fully digital and therefore offer the best performance. I dont have a 360 or ps3 but my wii is hooked up to a normal video input and it looks good. If the TV has the yellow and red connectors (audio and video) then your Nintendo 64 should work fine.

    4)Prices-

Wow that is a tough question to answer. A good quality TV can run anywhere between $400 and $4000. Im assuming you want something for a room so a nice 25'; should do you well. The best thing to do is just shop around, browse internet sites and read reviews. I personally like Sony televisions but you will pay a little more for the name. My 52'; cost me about $1800 about a year and a half ago. The prices have come down some and never buy a TV unless it is on sale. Especially now with the economy in the crapper, you can find great deals if you are patient.

    4) Regular TVs use an analog signal. HD TV use a digital signal. So technically the TV's perform the same function but they accept different type of input signals. Therefore you need a convertor box to change the incoming DTV signal to an analog signal so that your old television can accept the format. Also, dont assume that digital television or DTV is HD because it is not. It is just broadcast in a digital format.MANY Questions about HDTV's...?
    1. Those number represent the resolution. Basically, the higher the number is, the better the resolution. That number is the resolution the TV displays and if a Wii only displays up to 400, then the TV will display in 400 while it is running the Wii.

    2. The cables are similar. Red and White (Both audio) are the same. Green has replaced yellow. Green can transmit HD signals while yellow can only transmit standard definition signals. However, the yellow cables are compatible so you could plug a yellow cable into a green input.

    3. Not sure exactly what you mean. A port is something you plug a cable into, a cable is a cable.

    4. A small one might cost only $200 (i saw one for that price at Target), but they can get well into the thousands.

    5. No, it can't change standard definition (SD) into HD because whatever is outputting the SD is only outputting enough info to make an SD picture. The output would have to be HD to get an HD picture.

50'; TV DVI Shows Desktop Too Big?

I have a 50'; wide screen Sony LCD TV that has DVI input. My PC only supports DVI and does not have a VGA output. When I connected my PC to the TV, the desktop is too large for the screen (Icons and start menu are off the screen). I have gone into PC settings and changed the pixels and tried changing the 32 bit colors to 16. I have used my TV remote to change the screen settings and also tried the button on the remote that usually changes the screen from ';Normal';, ';Full'; and ';Wide'; but it won't change anything. I know a lot about PC's but this one has stumped me. I expected the screen to display as a typical TV channel would (not like HD). I had previously had a laptop on another big screen with no problem. Any idea how to have my PC screen to display without it bleeding off of the screen?50'; TV DVI Shows Desktop Too Big?
    You need to go into your Sony TV's settings menus and adjust the screen size from +2 overscan to ';Full Pixel.';

I had to do that on my 52-inch Sony Bravia to make my computer's image fit the screen edge-to-edge, and the results are spectacular: http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f347/a

    EDITED TO ADD:

Sometimes the graphics card in a computer might have overscan set by default (which drives me nuts.). I've seen this in both nVidia and ATI video cards. If you have either an nVidia or ATI video card, you want to look in the driver software's menus and see if you can find a setting for overscan. Give that a shot, and good luck.

please answer minehttp://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?How do you edit a picture to make it 500 x 500 pixels?
You can upload it to Photobucket. Then you can resize it on there. Photobucket is great, and free. Also, you can upload as many pictures as you'd like to. You can resize it from there to many different sizes that are already built in.

Also, if you want more control over the size, you could bring it into Photoshop, Gimp, or any other editing program and edit the ';image size';. Make sure that you're editing pixels and not inches or centimeters in the drop down boxes, and enter in 500 to the biggest dimension (either height or width).
You can probably find a program on your computer (it's there by default) where most of the times, you type in what dimensions you want to resize your photo to.

Such programs might be Microsoft Office Picture Manager.

You might wanna crop it if you want to change the set ratio of the height to width before resizing though.

You can also sign up on something like Photobucket (it's free), upload your picture and then edit it on there; there are a lot more options besides resizing and cropping on Photobucket, if you don't have a picture editing program on your computer.
Digital cameras produce huge file sizes. There are many free websites like Image Optimizer, Web Resizer, Image Resizer, Shrink Pictures to help you create smaller images. Reduced file size enables faster loading, better management of the pictures and space saving - without loss of picture quality. These products can also help you convert images between different formats.

I've got a file of the polish coat of arms, but the detail on the hawk is all done in a gray, and i'd like to make it black. I know there's some way I can select the color and then have photoshop find all pixels that color and change them to black. But how do I do it?In photoshop can I select a color that occurs throughout a picture and change it all at once?
go to color range and then select the gray and then fill the selected areaIn photoshop can I select a color that occurs throughout a picture and change it all at once?
That's what color does. It's normal.
Go to Image%26gt; Adjustments%26gt; Replace Color then use the eyedropper to select your main color, and the eyedropper with the + symbol next to it to select any additional colors.

Then use your slides to adjust the darness, hue, etc.

(((This is for MAC I cant recall right now on PC if it is in the same foldlers, but the tool is still called Replace Color in PC)))

How can I remove stuck mineral spots caused by water off an LCD screen?

You know, those tiny pixels that change color and are most visible on light or bright BGs...I used tap water to clean my LCD screen that's why they appears...:(How can I remove stuck mineral spots caused by water off an LCD screen?
First off I guess by now you know you shouldn't have used tap water... especially if it's hard tap water!

Try the following (in order until you find one that will shift the flecks)

    Proprietary screen cleaner wipes

Proprietary glass cleaner (the clear stuff, whatever brand name it goes by in your locale... ) sprayed onto a clean soft tissue to lightly damp it... wipe the screen gently

Soft tissue LIGHTLY damped with clear vinegar, wiped over the screen - if you use spirit vinegar dilute it with distilled water first. Then wipe the screen with a soft tissue damped with DISTILLED water. Not deionised, not mineral, spring or tap.

Anything stronger than this there is a high risk of damaging the anti reflective coating on the screen. If you do that, it's permanent damage. So battery acid is not a good idea, nor is steel wool.

Then only use screen cleaner wipes or glass cleaner in future to clean the screen. How can I remove stuck mineral spots caused by water off an LCD screen?

Sounds like you need to re-install the driver for the video card.

You'll need to identify the brand and model and then visit the website of the manufacturer to get the correct drivers.

Likely the video card will be from NVidia or ATi or Intel.

If you don't know which brand of card it is you could download PCWizard from http://www.cpuid.com

This will identify it for you.
