Check photo pixel size and change compression?

I have to submit my photo into a contest and these are the requirements (below). How do I set my photos to the correct requirements?

';...with a CD/DVD (non-returnable)

containing the digital file of the image with minimum 3000 pixels at the longer side and minimum

JPEG compression...';

10 points await you! Thanks in advance :)Check photo pixel size and change compression?
Make sure your camera is set to the biggest size possible (highest resolution) and the highest possible quality setting (which means the lowest jpg compression).

You can check the pixels with your photo editor (Photoshop, Elements, Gimp, PaintShopPro etc) or even just via Windows Explorer Properties. Or you could download Opanda (free and great for all the EXIF info).

If you do any editing, make sure it is allowed and make sure to save it at the highest quality setting.
